And that’s it ladies and gentlemen. The spectacular PSL opening ceremony is capped off with fireworks around the stadium. Beautiful sight!

The focus now shifts to the first match of the tournament between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars. Hope you liked our coverage.

Chairman of Emirates Cricket Board HH Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan shares his thoughts

“Best wishes to every team and players,” he said. “We would like to congratulate PCB for taking the event from strength to strength.”

He added: “The last eight matches of PSL will be taking place in Karachi and Lahore and that is something we are looking forward to with great interest.”  

Players and team management from all six franchises have now assembled in the middle of the stadium. Plenty of familiar faces, both former and current.

The stars are amongst us!

Fawad Khan featuring Young Desi and Shuja Haider have sung and produced the PSL official song “Khel Deewano Ka”.

Junoon performed in Dubai last month are a big favourite of the Dubai crowds. The band reunited last year and made their third concert appearance since the reunion. The band has made some iconic inspirational songs related to cricket and the crowd was thrilled to see them perform once again.  

Junoon is now on stage!

Aima Baig has made a big impression on the Pakistan showbiz scene in recent years and her performance was liked by the audience present. 

Marcia Barrett of the legendary old-school Pop outfit Boney M is now on stage.

“We are thankful to UAE government for helping us organise this event,” said Mani. “I would like to welcome everyone to this year’s PSL.”

The opening ceremony would be followed by the opening match of the PSL 2019 between defending champions Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars.

Besides the performers, a series of exciting acts including a grand fireworks display at the end, will also be part of the opening ceremony.  

Other opening ceremony performers include Boney M, Aima Baig, Shuja Haider, Fawad Khan and Young Desi.

Leading Pakistan Sufi-rock band Junoon is one of the attractions of what promises to be a memorable evening in Dubai.

The Dubai International Stadium would play host to a star-studded ceremony with internationally renowned stars.

Keeping up the tradition of the last three seasons, PSL is set for another grand opening ceremony.
