Pakistan Test cricketer Haris Sohail has firmly dismissed rumours about his retirement, calling them “baseless” and stressing that he has no intentions of stepping away from the game.

The all-rounder expressed his disappointment upon hearing the false reports circulating on social media, and clarified that his focus remains solely on playing cricket.

In a statement, Haris Sohail said, “I have not made any decision to retire, nor do I have any such intention. My full focus is on continuing to play the game that I love.”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also weighed in on the matter, confirming that no official communication regarding Sohail's retirement has been received. A PCB official revealed that the board had spoken with the cricketer, who denied the rumours and reiterated his commitment to representing Pakistan.

Haris Sohail has been a key figure for Pakistan across all three formats—Test, ODI, and T20—but has not been included in recent national team selections. Despite the absence from the squad, Sohail remains resolute in his desire to continue his cricketing career.

The 35-year-old has represented Pakistan in all formats of the game, demonstrating his versatility in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. In Tests, he has played 16 matches across 27 innings, amassing 847 runs at an average of 32.57, including two centuries, three half-centuries, and a highest score of 147, with a strike rate of 43.75. His last red-ball appearance was against New Zealand in 2021.

In ODIs, he has featured in 45 matches, scoring 1,749 runs in 44 innings at an average of 44.84. He has two centuries and 14 half-centuries, with a top score of 130 and a strike rate of 85.48. His most recent ODI was against New Zealand in 2023.

In T20Is, the player has made 14 appearances, accumulating 210 runs from 13 innings at an average of 19.09. His highest score in T20Is is 52, with a strike rate of 102.94, and he has hit two half-centuries, but no centuries. His last T20I match was against Australia in 2019.
