Mohammad Ikhlaq, the wicketkeeper-batter of the Dolphins team in the Champions Cup, has revealed that he received an offer to play professional cricket in the United States. However, he emphasized that he intends to play all of his cricket for Pakistan and in Pakistan.
Speaking about the offer, Ikhlaq stated, "I have no intention of leaving Pakistan to play professional cricket in any other country. My cricket is for Pakistan, and I want to play here," he stated.
Akhlaq also highlighted the importance of fitness in the current era, stating that he has always focused on maintaining good fitness, and continues to work on improving it. "Fitness is crucial, and while I have always maintained a good level of fitness, I am constantly working to improve it further," he added.
When it comes to playing red-ball and white-ball cricket, Ikhlaq shared that he approaches both formats with the same mindset, which has led to success. However, he puts in extra effort to refine his technique for red-ball cricket. "Playing red-ball cricket gives me the opportunity to experience different conditions and learn new shots, which I can apply in white-ball cricket," he further added.
Akhlaq also spoke about sharing wicketkeeping tips with Sarfaraz Ahmed, saying, "We exchange a lot of wicketkeeping experience, and I am working hard to improve my skills in this area," he explained.
He further mentioned his recent performance in the Hong Kong Sixes for Pakistan, where he showcased his abilities, and his match-winning innings in the lower order during the recent red-ball and Global T20 formats. "I played some match-winning innings, and I'm always focused on performing wherever I get the chance," he stated.
On the challenges of securing a spot in the team as a wicketkeeper, Ikhlaq said, "It’s difficult to make a place for a wicketkeeper in the team, but I am continuing to work hard. The PCB invites me to various camps, and wherever I get the opportunity, my goal is to perform well."
Finally, Akhlaq discussed the preparation needed for T20 cricket, emphasizing that T20 is a different format with its own preparation and training. "The preparation and training for T20 are different, and I play according to the role given to me by the management, based on the team’s plan," he concluded.
