Quetta suffered a big blow, early in the match against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday when its 17-year-old pacer Naseem Shah left the field with a sprained left ankle after bowling two economical overs, conceding just six runs.

Reports have stated that Naseem is likely to miss atleast one week of action due to the ankle injury. The pacer is likely to sit out matches against Lahore Qalandars, March 7, and Multan Sultans on March 11.

Despite question marks over his fitness, the Quetta Gladiators had, earlier, said that the pacer is responding well to treatment.  

“Naseem Shah has an injury to his left ankle and if needed we will send him for a scan. However so far he's responding well to treatment and is feeling well,” said Quetta Gladiators’ Media Manager Nabeel Hashmi after the match.

It must be noted that Naseem missed the first two games of ongoing HBL PSL after the medical panel advised Quetta Gladiators to rest him inorder to nurse his injured ribs.

Earlier, Shoaib Malik’s second half-century of the season and captain Wahab Riaz’s three wickets handed Peshawar Zalmi a 30-run win over Quetta Gladiators at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

With this win, their third in seven matches, Zalmi have leapfrogged Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings to secure third spot with seven points next to their name, while Gladiators slip to the fifth spot with three wins and four defeats from seven matches.

In the next match of the tournament, Multan Sultans will play Karachi Kings at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.
