Imam clarifies stance on verbal spat with Watson

Peshawar Zalmi opener Imamul Haq has clarified his stance on the verbal spat with Shane Watson, during the final of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season four.

The left-handed batsman shared his thoughts on the incident, through his official Twitter account.

“Yesterday’s incident happened in the heat of the moment. My reaction to Watson’s inappropriate abusive comments was avoidable, for which I apologise,” said Imam. It was a good match and a great HBL PSL 2019, let’s enjoy its success. Congrats to Gladiators and Watson for the trophy and awards”

During the PSL final, when Watson got run out for 7 runs, he got involved in a verbal spat with Imam.

During the altercation, the duo had a heated exchange of words and Imam gestured Watson to walk his way back to the pavilion.

Imam has received massive backlash from social media, as this incident was not only witnessed by the people in the crowd, but also by millions watching on television.

People are calling the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take action against the 23-year-old opener for his unacceptable attitude, considering Australia’s Watson has travelled to Pakistan, when other foreign teams are unwilling to visit Pakistan.

People had also demanded an apology from Imam on social media for his inappropriate behaviour.
