The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated investigation against ex-employees of its marketing department.

Financial expenditures during the HBL Pakistan Super League (HBL PSL) have come under scrutiny due to which PCB has formed a special committee to look into this matter.

The PCB had used late singer Nazia Hassan’s song “Disco Deewane” in the opening ceremony of the HBL PSL. The late singer’s brother Zohaib Hassan protested over PCB using the song without his permission and threatened to take them to court over it.

According to sources, the PCB settled this issue outside court by paying PKR 3,000,000 to Zohaib Hassan, after which Zohaib allowed PCB to use Nazia Hassan‘s song “Dosti” and “Disco Deewane” in the closing ceremony of HBL PSL in Karachi as well.

It is interesting to note that a different company was hired to organise the closing ceremony, but still the PCB paid for the use of these songs in the closing ceremony. Hence, the PCB has started inquiry against former Senior General Manager Marketing Sohaib Shaikh and his close associates on this matter.

PCB is investigating other financial irregularities that have taken place during the HBL PSL season four.
