About the news of grouping within the team, he said that the players had no differences and everyone played with unity.  The team made a comeback after initial defeats but it was unfortunate for them to not make it to the semi-finals.

After losing to India, Ali issued clearance to the players involved in the Sheesha Cafe scandal. He said that the pictures that were seen on the media were from two days before the match.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stated that they are yet to receive such a report but sources have confirmed that Ali handed over the report to, one of, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani or Managing Director Wasim Khan during a meeting in London.
