Lahore Qalandars paid a heartfelt gesture to their Director Cricket Operations (DCO) and head coach Aaqib Javed in team hotel after they bagged the title of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Aaqib Javed was in isolation due to Covid-19 and was unable to join the dugout in Eliminator 2 and the Final last night.

The former pacer has been scrutinized a lot for Qalandars' performance in the past and people have been held responsible for the losses.

In a heartfelt video posted by Lahore Qalandars, the squad took the trophy to Aaqib Javed’s room and handed it to him. He became emotional with this gesture of the team after all the efforts he has put in for the franchise over the years.

Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah told Aaqib Javed that this trophy is not ours it is yours. Aaqib’s role for the Qalandars has been instrumental as he has conducted many Players Development Programs (PDP) and has produced many players not only for the franchise but also for Pakistan.

To name a few Haris Rauf, Salman Irshad, and Shaheen Afridi are all Lahore Qalandars' products. Qalandars also created a platform for the youngsters to tour Australia to gain exposure and a taste of foreign conditions under the leadership of Aaqib Javed.

Qalandars, who had the worst start in HBL PSL previous seasons, won their first title in seven years after consecutively finishing last in the first four seasons of HBL PSL.

They made it into the final in season five but again finished fifth last year.
