The draft for season eight of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) will take place on December 15 in Karachi.

Defending champions Lahore Qalandars will make the first pick. The order was decided through a draw at the Pakistan Cricket Board offices. Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans will have the second and third picks. The fourth and fifth picks will belong to Karachi Kings and Islamabad United.

The order for the next 17 rounds was decided by a special tool.

Babar Azam has delivered the first major move of the 2023 Pakistan Super League, with the Pakistan skipper swapping Karachi Kings for Peshawar Zalmi.

Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik have headed in the opposite direction while Peshawar Zalmi have also received the first supplementary round pick as part of the trade.

Each team could retain up to eight players from last season's squad. Their squads for 2023 can contain a maximum of 18 players – three platinum, three diamond, three gold, five silver, two emerging and two supplementary – following the draft.

When does the tournament start?

The 2023 season is set to start on February 9 across four venues – Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Multan – with the final on March 19.
