Former Indian cricketer and well-known commentator Aakash Chopra omitted Pakistan from his updated prediction of ICC World Cup 2023 semi-finalists.
“India, England, Australia and one from South Africa and New Zealand,” said Chopra.
“Pakistan were among my semi-finalists pre-tournament,” he added.
Before the start of the tournament, Chopra named Pakistan, England, Australia, and India among the teams to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the mega-event tournament.
“They (India) are the frontrunners but apart from them, the three other semi-finalists could be Pakistan, whose ODI team is very good, England and Australia. I feel you might see these four teams playing in the semi-finals,” Chopra had said.
On the otherhand, Pakistan cricketer, Imad Wasim, also changed his predictions for the semi-finalists in the mega event.
Originally, before the tournament commenced, Wasim had predicted Pakistan, India, England, and South Africa as the frontrunners to reach the semi-finals.
However, the Pakistan all-rounder has now changed his perspective, suggesting that Australia, England, or Pakistan may secure a spot in the semi-finals.
“South Africa, New Zealand, India, and one team from Australia, Pakistan and England will qualify for the semis,” Imad said.
