Former Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal is interested in becoming the Men in Green’s bowling coach.
While talking to Express News, Ajmal, who featured in 35 Tests, 113 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 64 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), said that he wants to utilise his experience for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
“I want to serve Pakistan cricket by working as the team’s bowling coach,” said Ajmal. “I have passed PCB and England’s Level Two coaching course, while I will take part in Level Three course in April next year. Also I’m coaching more than 200 young cricketers in my academy.”
Arthur disappointed at Amir’s retirement from Test cricket
The 41-year-old also believes that middle-order batsman Babar Azam is the ideal choice to lead Pakistan in Test matches and ODIs.
“I think Babar is the best choice for captaincy in Test and ODI format,” he said. “Performance should be the only criteria when taking a decision on who should be the captain of the side and Babar’s form has been exemplary in all formats of the game.”
Speaking about pacer Mohammad Amir’s decision to retire from Test cricket, Ajmal said: “Amir’s decision to retire from Test cricket is a major blow for the side and will hamper team’s performance.”
