Aleem Dar on brink of double century in ODIs

Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar will officiate in his 200th One-day International (ODI) match, when West Indies takes on Bangladesh, tomorrow in the ongoing triangular series in Dublin, Ireland.

The 50-year-old umpire, hailing from Jhang, will be the third International Cricket Council (ICC) elite umpire to complete 200 ODI matches.

South Africa’s Rudi Koertzen has officiated in the most number of ODI matches (209), while New Zealand’s Billy Bowden is second on the list with 206 matches.

Aleem Dar became part of the ICC Elite umpires panel in 2004.

Dar has also been ICC David Shepherd for Umpire of the year for three consecutive years from 2009 to 2011.

Pakistan umpire also currently holds the record for officiating in most number of T20 Internationals (T20I) with 43 matches.

The upcoming ICC 2019 World Cup will be Aleem Dar’s fifth as an umpire.
