Ali Khan Tareen submits bid for PSL ‘Sixth Team’

Ali Khan Tareen has submitted his bid for franchise rights of Pakistan Super League (PSL)’s ‘Sixth Team’.

Tareen shared the news in a tweet on his official Twitter handle — stating that he is keen on keeping the franchise in South Punjab.

It must be noted that Tareen had earlier stated that he is reconsidering his decision in this regard because his sources told him that the team will be overpriced.

His Tweets also invited backlash from fans and media as they considered sharing such information on social media against rules and regulations.

Earlier the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had terminated the franchise agreement of the Multan Sultans. The termination was brought about due to the franchisee’s inability to meet its financial obligations under the Agreement.

As a result of this termination, all rights in respect of the team reverted back to PCB.

PCB has already confirmed that the fourth edition of PSL will go ahead as planned with six teams and the same number of matches. The Board shall take complete responsibility of all player and coach contracts. Pending further updates, the team shall be referred to as “The Sixth Team” of PSL.

PCB will enter into a public tender process to grant repackaged rights of the Sixth Team. The rights holder would have the option of choosing the sixth franchise city and name.
