Amir, Babar improve ODI rankings after impressive performances

Pakistan left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir’s impressive performance against Sri Lanka in the recently-concluded One-day International (ODI) series has helped him break into the top 10 of the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings for ODI bowlers.

Amir jumped six places to join Australia’s Mitchell Starc at seventh position, with both left-arm bowlers equalled at 663 rating points.

The 27-year-old took four wickets in two matches against the islanders at an average of 17.7 and a meager economy of 4.17.

On the batting front, top-order batsman Babar Azam maintained his 3rd position in batting rankings on the back of his brilliant century in the second ODI. Babar further closed the gap with Indian batsmen Virat Kohli (895) and Rohit Sharma (863), ranked first and second respectively, by moving from 827 to 834 rating points.

Fifties in the second and third ODIs also propelled opener Fakhar Zaman to 16th position in the ICC ODI batting rankings.
