Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir is eager to make an impact for Gloucestershire in the three matches he will play in the County Championship.

The 30-year-old will be available for selection for matches against Surrey, Hampshire and Somerset. He was brought as cover for the absent Naseem Shah, who will be unavailable for selection until the T20 Blast campaign due to shoulder injury.

He made these remarks while talking ahead of the Gloucestershire game against Surrey. "I am feeling really good and excited for tomorrow as I have always loved playing County cricket and looking forward to the challenge," said Amir

"I will be playing only three games but will give my 200 percent for the team and create an impact in the tournament," he further added.

On the other hand, Amir further said that he is loving the team atmosphere and will surely try to help the youngsters. "I always like playing with youngsters as they give it they are all on the ground and I will definitely try to impart my experience to them."

“When I arrived and sat in the dressing room with the boys I thought to myself, I’m on the good side here," he further added.

Amir hasn't featured in red-ball cricket since retiring from Test in July 2019 citing his body can't keep up with the demands of playing in the longest format but feels that he is feeling well and wants to go back.

"I didn't play much cricket after retiring from international cricket and my body got a break and not to mention my mindset changed. I worked on my fitness and now I feel a lot better. My body is allowing me to test my skills again in Test cricket," Amir concluded.
