Pakistan secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong International Sixes by defeating India by six wickets at the Mong Kok Stadium. Chasing a target of 120 runs, Pakistan reached 121 runs without losing a wicket in just 5 overs.
India batted first, scoring 119 runs for 2 wickets in their six overs. They had some strong performances, but it was Pakistan's batting that stole the show.
Asif Ali was the star of the match, scoring 55 runs off just 14 balls before retiring hurt. His innings included 2 fours and 7 sixes, with an amazing strike rate of 392.85. Alongside him, Muhammad Akhlaq scored 40 runs not out from 12 balls, hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes, at a strike rate of 333.33.
Faheem Ashraf, the team captain, also contributed with 22 runs off 5 balls, scoring at an incredible rate of 440.00.
It is worth noting that a total of 12 teams are taking part in this tournament, which is back after a break of six years. The event will take place from November 1 to 3, 2024.
Since the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes started in 1993, Pakistan has won the tournament four times and finished as runners-up five times. They reached the finals in the last tournament held in 2017.
