ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, known for her courageous public service, has emerged as a top contender for the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Head of Women’s Cricket role, as reported by a local sports channel.
Sources revealed that the PCB is in the process of selecting a successor to Tania Mallick, who recently stepped down to pursue new opportunities.
Shehrbano Naqvi gained recognition in February when she courageously protected a woman from a mob at Lahore’s Ichra Bazaar, showcasing her dedication to public safety and women’s empowerment.
Another strong candidate is the former Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, who played an active role during PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure as interim Chief Minister of Punjab.
The PCB’s Head of Women’s Cricket role was left vacant following Mallick’s departure. Since joining the PCB in 2021, Mallick has worked to promote women’s cricket, expanding opportunities for players and making strides at the grassroots level. Her work also earned her a spot as a Full Member representative on the ICC Women’s Committee.
PCB COO Salman Naseer praised Mallick’s contributions, stating, “Tania worked with dedication to uplift women’s cricket in Pakistan. Her efforts, alongside the PCB’s support, were recognized internationally by the ICC.”
