Azam Khan dreams about winning T20 World Cup for Pakistan

Pakistan’s uncapped hard-hitting batsman Azam Khan is keen on wining the T20 World Cup for Pakistan, later this year.

While speaking to Cricket Pakistan in an exclusive interview, Azam was proud after being named in the Men in Green’s T20 squad for the tour of England and West Indies.

“It’s a dream for every cricketer to play for your country. I feel really happy to be named in the Pakistan squad and I’m looking forward to playing for my country,” said Azam.

“If I’m named in the T20 World Cup, I will try to ensure that I bring the cup back home for my country,” he added.

He also opened up about his side Quetta Gladiators’ poor performance in the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six, after the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led unit finished at the bottom of the points table.

“Two of our players, Andre Russell and Faf du Plessis got injured which affected our team combination. When you lose two legendary players like those, things get difficult and the morale of team goes down. Having said that, I think good and bad days are part and parcel of the game. We have been champions in the past and also played two finals. Hopefully, in the future, good times will return,” he said.

He also talked about the dip in his form in the HBL PSL 6.

“I try to perform in every game but sometimes things don’t go according to plan. In cricket, you can’t say that you are the best because you make mistakes and always learning something,” he said. “I’m going through a rough time at the moment but hopefully things will take a good turn soon and I will be able to make my father [Moin Khan] proud, which is the thing which matters the most to me.”

He also spoke about working on his fitness while training at the National High Performance Centre in Lahore.

“It was nice to work with coaches at High Performance Centre. I reduced nine kilos weight during the two months I spent there. Now that I’m on PCB’s panel, I will try to achieve the targets they set for me,” he concluded.
