WATCH: Babar Azam conferred with third-highest civilian honor

Pakistan's all-format captain, Babar Azam, has been awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz, the country's third-highest civilian award, for his outstanding contributions in the field of cricket. 

The award ceremony was held today in Lahore, where Babar became the youngest person to receive the award at the age of 28.

Babar Azam's exceptional skills and leadership qualities have earned him many accolades in the past, including the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men's Cricketer of 2022, the ICC ODI Player of the Year award, and named skipper of the ICC ODI Team of the Year. 

The right-hand batsman also joins the list of esteemed Pakistan cricketers such as Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, and Shahid Afridi who have also received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for their outstanding contributions to the sport.

 

 

Babar's break from cricket to attend the ceremony will not affect the upcoming series against Afghanistan, which is scheduled to start on March 24. 

Cricket fraternity congratulated Babar on this massive achievement at such a young age.
