Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan set new record as most successful T20 pair

Pakistan's white-ball captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan established themselves as the most successful batting duo in T20 cricket history. This feat came in the fourth T20I against England at The Oval on Thursday.

The pair, often hailed as one of the finest in the format, achieved this milestone with yet another stellar performance.

Babar and Rizwan have now amassed 24 partnerships of fifty runs or more, the highest by any duo in T20 internationals. This remarkable feat includes ten century partnerships, underscoring their consistency and synergy at the crease.

Their latest achievement surpasses the previous record held by Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s iconic opening pair, Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli, who had 23 fifty-plus stands.

It is worth noting that Babar also became the first Pakistan batter to score 4000 runs in T20I cricket, etching his name in the record books of the shorter format.

Most Runs in T20I Cricket:

Virat Kohli - 4037 runs (109 innings)
Babar Azam - 4023* runs (112 innings)
Rohit Sharma - 3974 runs (143 innings)
