Babar Azam on cusp of breaking Virat Kohli’s record in upcoming India clash

Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, is on the verge of breaking another record held by India's Virat Kohli.

Babar is just six runs away from becoming the fastest captain to score 2000 ODI runs. Kohli holds the current record, having scored 2000 ODI runs as captain in 36 innings. Whereas, Azam has scored 1994 runs in just 30 innings.

Babar will be looking to break Kohli's record when Pakistan takes on India in their next Asia Cup clash on Saturday in Kandy.

Pakistan captain also surpassed Hashim Amla as he became the fastest batter to complete 19 ODI centuries during the Asia Cup opener against Nepal in Multan.

While Amla took 104 innings to score 19 ODI centuries, the Pakistan captain achieved the feat in 102 innings.

Babar, with his 151-run knock against Nepal, is now on the top spot in the list of the quickest batsmen to reach 19 ODI centuries, with Hashim Amla (104), Virat Kohli (124), David Warner (139) and AB de Villiers (171) following him.
