Bangladesh down Pakistan in Emerging Teams Asia Cup

Bangladesh have defeated Pakistan by 84 runs in the Group B match of Emerging Teams Asia Cup at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Chasing a target of 310 runs, Pakistan were bowled out for 225 runs inside 47 overs.

Earlier the visitors posted 309-5 in their allotted 50 overs, after having won the toss and electing to bat first.

Zakir Hussain, Mosaddek Hussain and Yasir Ali scored half-centuries — helping their side post a massive total on the board.

For Pakistan, Khushdil Shah was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.

In response, Pakistan were in a good position at 111-2 in the 21st over of the innings but then went on to lose five wickets for just 31 runs to slip to 142-7. The team was eventually bowled out for 225 runs — with Shah the highest run-scorer with 61.

For Bangladesh, Nayeem Hasan claimed three wickets for 36 runs.

Mosaddek backed up his fifty with two wickets with the ball — helping him win the player of the match award.

Both — Pakistan and Bangladesh — have qualified for the semi-final of the tournament from Group B while from Group A India and Sri Lanka have come through.

The semi-finals will be played in Colombo on December 13 whereas the final will be played at the same venue on December 15.
