Bangladesh unsure about touring Pakistan

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to arrive at a decision regarding sending their men’s and women’s team to their scheduled tour of Pakistan.

According to a report by the Dhaka tribune, the BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan has said that the board will take a final call on the tours within the next two weeks.

“You know our board president [Nazmul Hasan] has always said security is our first priority. We have that in mind,” said Akram. “This is not just a decision of the board. We haven’t decided as to whether we will play in Dubai or Pakistan. We are discussing.’’

“This decision will be finalised in a board meeting and the green signal has to come from both sides (board and government),’’ he added.

The Bangladesh men’s team is scheduled to tour Pakistan in January, 2020 for two Tests and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Whereas, according to the schedule released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Bangladesh women’s team will play two One-day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is later this month in Lahore.

BCB has already announced that the Indian coaches from Bangladesh's women's cricket staff will not travel to Pakistan for the international series next month amid political tensions between the nuclear rivals.

Earlier, ten Sri Lankan players, including T20I skipper Lasith Malinga and ODI captain Dimuth Karunaratne, pulled out of the ongoing tour of Pakistan citing security concerns.
