BCCI to PCB: We will not come to Pakistan for Asia Cup in 2020

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to change the venue for the Asia Cup 2020.

On Thursday, Pakistan was nominated as the host for the next edition of the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to take place in September 2020.

However, Due to strained political relations between arch rivals, United Arab Emirates (UAE) could once again host the event — similar to what happened the last time when India were the hosts.

According to a report published in the Times of India, a BCCI official was quotes as saying: “Playing in Pakistan is out of question and so the hosts have been told to think about an alternate arrangement,”

The reported further stated the BCCI message was delivered to PCB officials during the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)’s meeting in Dhaka.

Earlier, Pakistan refused to take part in Asia Cup 2018 which was scheduled to take place in India, which was later shifted to the UAE.

BCCI also recently refused to send its representative for the ACC’s AGM meeting in Lahore amid security concerns and existing political tension among the neighbors.
