Bisht stars as India thrash Pakistan in Women’s Asia Cup

Left-arm spinner Ekta Bisht’s outstanding spell helped India thrash Pakistan by seven wickets in the 13th match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women's T20 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

After opting to bat first, Pakistan women’s team produced an abysmal batting display and managed to score just 72 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Former captain Sana Mir and Nahida Khan were the only two players from the losing side who managed to score in double figures.

Mir finished the innings with the top score of 20 not out off 38 balls, whereas Khan scored 18 off 27 balls with the help of two fours.

For the winning side, Bisht was the star of the show as she claimed figures of three for 14, whereas Shikha Pandey, Anuja Patil, Poonam Yadav and Deepti Sharma claimed a wicket each.

In reply, India women’s team chase down the 73-run target in the 17th over at the expense of three wickets.

Opener Smriti Mandhana finished the innings with the top score of 38 off 40 balls with the help of four fours, whereas captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored valuable 34 not out off 49 balls with the help of three boundaries.

For Pakistan, left-arm spinner Anam Amin was the pick of the bowlers as she claimed figures of two for 10.

For her outstanding spell, Bisht was named player of the match.

The win seals India's spot in the final of the tournament against Bangladesh, which will be played on Sunday June 10.
