Central Contract: Category C players benefit from increase in match fees

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the central contract list 2021-22, which included 20 players, earlier this year in July. It was announced that the 12-month contract will run from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

The cricketing board further revealed that the match fees were equalised across all formats. However, the details of which were not provided at that time.

Here are the complete details of the match fees and recent increments which PCB approved for the 2021-22 centrally contracted players:

Category A

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi

There has been no increment announced for this category and they will all be earning the same as they did in previous fiscal year.

Category B

The match fees of these players have been increased slightly to match the Category A players.

The biggest gainers of this new match fee structures are perhaps the players included in this category. They will see the most significant increment out of all the categories.

The emerging category was also be earning the same amount of money as the players included in Category C. 

Additional Changes

In addition to the match fees changes, the PCB has also made some other slight changes for the betterment of the players and are as following:

  • Players who are part of the squad but not in the playing XI will still receive 50% of the match fees
  • Captains and vice-captain will get $250 and $100 weekly, respectively, as part of entertainment allowance even if they are not available to play
  • If the match is not played or cancelled due to rain, players will still get 50% of the match fees

Retainership Fees

The PCB has also increased the retainership fees for the centrally contracted players as well. Category A, Category B, and  Cateorgy C have all seen an increment of 25% whereas the retainership fees for Emerging category has increased by 15%.
