Champions Trophy 2025: Gaddafi Stadium's enclosures demolition work begins

The extensive renovation of Gaddafi Stadium is progressing rapidly, with the demolition of enclosures and other structures now in full swing. The target for completing the basement work of the main building has been set for September 30, as preparations intensify for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Among the three venues selected for upgrades, Gaddafi Stadium is undergoing the largest-scale transformation, with a substantial budget allocation of 7.7 billion rupees. This makes it the most heavily invested project in advance of the tournament.

Demolition of the stadium’s main building is already underway, and the basement and water tank are expected to be completed by the end of September. Following this, one floor of the new building will be finished each month, with the aim of completing the entire structure, including the pavilions, by December 31.

The new pavilions will feature steel structures, replacing the existing enclosures with modern alternatives positioned closer to the ground, offering spectators an enhanced viewing experience.

In addition to structural improvements, the stadium's drainage system is being upgraded, digital screens are being installed, and existing floodlights will be replaced with modern LED lights, further enhancing the facility for both players and fans.

This ambitious renovation is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to deliver world-class venues for the 2025 Champions Trophy, marking the return of a major international tournament to the country.
