Champions Trophy 2025: PCB chief conducts late-night review of Gaddafi stadium preparations

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Gaddafi Stadium to assess the ongoing upgrade project. During the visit, Naqvi reviewed the improvements being made in the basement and throughout the stadium, ensuring that preparations are on track for the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy.

The cricket board chief expressed his commitment to completing the Gaddafi Stadium upgrade project on time, emphasizing the importance of having the venue ready before the tournament kicks off. He provided directives to the relevant authorities regarding the ongoing work on the stadium’s enclosures, aiming for timely completion.

The project director from the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) briefed Naqvi on the progress made, and he expressed satisfaction with the pace at which the work is being carried out.

The 2025 Champions Trophy is set to take place from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day on March 10. Pakistan finds itself in Group A, alongside cricketing giants India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, while Group B consists of England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently awaiting consultations with the Indian government before confirming participation in matches hosted in Pakistan.

Matches will be held in three cities: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Lahore will host seven matches, including the grand final, while the National Stadium in Karachi will stage the opening match and one semi-final. Rawalpindi is scheduled to host five matches, including the other semi-final.

The semi-finals are set for March 5 and 6 in Karachi and Rawalpindi, respectively, leading up to the final, which will take place in Lahore on March 9.
