Daren Sammy shuts down Pakistan coaching talk

Daren Sammy, former West Indies captain and current head coach of PSL's Peshawar Zalmi, emphasized his current focus on the franchise rather than contemplating the coaching role for the Pakistan men's team.

Amid reports of him being considered for the vacant head coach position, Sammy stated during a media interaction after a training session in Karachi that he is solely concentrating on winning the title for Zalmi

"My focus right now is on Peshawar Zalmi and its coaching, I am not focused on anything including the coaching of the Pakistan team, I want to focus only on winning the title for Zalmi," Sammy said.

Highlighting the achievements of Peshawar Zalmi, Sammy commended the team's consistent performance by being the only side to qualify for the playoffs in all nine editions of the PSL.

"Qualification for the playoffs in every PSL season is a testament to the players' performance. Players like Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz have given a lot of services and contributed," he said.

Discussing the current team dynamics, Sammy expressed confidence in the leadership of Babar Azam, who is now at the helm of Peshawar Zalmi.

"Babar Azam is now leading the team and the players are performing well under his leadership. Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Haris and Saim Ayub are the future," he added.
