Dr Noman Niaz likely to become PCB’s MD

Dr Noman Niaz — who is currently the director of Pakistan Television Network (PTV) — has been shortlisted for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s Managing Director position.

According to Daily Express, Niaz — who is in the Great Britain for bone-marrow transplant— gave an interview for the post via Skype on Friday.

Usually past PCB chairmen shouldered the additional responsibility of MD, however, current PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani is not keen on carrying forward this tradition.

The report further suggested that around 100 candidates had applied for this post. The board has shortlisted a few candidates, including Niaz.

Dr Niaz — who is also PTV’s Head of Sports — has worked as media manager with PCB in 2001. He is expected to return to Pakistan by the end of this month.

PCB is yet to finalise also the monthly pay for this position but it is expected to be around Rs2.2 million.

The board will also soon announce a renowned personality as Director Media — who will be paid Rs1.1 million monthly.
