Former chief selector criticizes PCB's lack of vision amid team struggles

Former chief selector Haroon Rasheed has raised significant concerns over the current state of Pakistan cricket, indicating that the issues facing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cannot be resolved through brief discussions.

While discussing the matter during media talk in Karachi, the 71-year-old highlighted the unprecedented turmoil within the PCB and the mocking of the board and the national team by the international community.

He also criticized the PCB's decision to abruptly end the Under-19 tournament while scheduling a white-ball tournament before an essential red-ball series. This indicates a lack of coherence and vision among the board's leadership.

The former selector emphasized the necessity for extended planning sessions to formulate effective strategies, stressing that it is crucial for these strategies to be implemented after reaching a consensus.

In light of these concerns, the PCB recently organized a "connection camp" aimed at enhancing communication and collaboration within the national team. Held on Monday, the camp provided players with a platform to connect and discuss strategies as they prepare for a demanding cricketing season.

The camp was attended by nine prominent cricketers, including Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Mohammad Rizwan. The day-long session focused on strengthening team bonds and setting a leadership example for younger players. However, the camp also revealed a lack of unity within the team, which highlights the urgency for a more cohesive approach as Pakistan faces upcoming challenges.
