Gambhir, others send well-wishes for Afridi after testing positive for Covid-19

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has tested positive for novel coronavirus (Covid-19) and requested prayers for a ‘speedy recovery’.

The flamboyant cricketer shared the news on his official social media accounts.

“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah [God willing],” Afridi said in a tweet on his official Twitter account.

As soon as the news broke out, many former and current cricketers showcased their support for Afridi.

"My prayers and well wishes are with Shahid Afridi. May Allah help him recover soon. He was doing a lot of charity work in Balochistan and Northern Areas for people of those regions. Throughout this situation he's been helping the poor and has been doing an excellent job," said Pakistan’s head coach-cum-chief selector Misbahul Haq.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a brief note, stating: “Get well soon. Praying for your swift recovery!”

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir also kept aside his long-standing feud with Afridi and hoped that the latter would recover soon.

“I have political differences with Shahid Afridi. But I hope he recovers soon from coronavirus,” said Gambhir while talking to SportsTak.
