Governor Sindh rewards national blind cricket team for T20 World Cup victory

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori honored Pakistan’s national blind cricket team with a cash prize of PKR 500,000 in recognition of their historic victory in the Blind T20 World Cup last month.

In a ceremony held at the Governor House on Friday, Tessori welcomed the players and officials from the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) and celebrated their remarkable achievement.

“All the players of the undefeated team in the Blind T20 World Cup are our national heroes,” Tessori remarked. “Our blind cricketers, with their morale as high as mountains, have gifted the nation this prestigious title,” he added.

The Governor also pledged to request the Sindh Government to award an additional PKR 500,000 to each player of the winning team, further acknowledging their incredible accomplishment.

PBCC chairman Syed Sultan Shah briefed Tessori on the team’s outstanding performance in the tournament and expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). “The PCB has played an exceptional role in fostering blind cricket. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has assured his full support for its continued development,” Shah stated.

For the unversed, Pakistan claimed their first-ever Blind T20 World Cup title last month by defeating Bangladesh in the final with a commanding 10-wicket victory. With this triumph, Pakistan became only the second team to win the prestigious title, joining India, who have previously won the tournament three times in a row.
