‘Hafeez has achieved nothing in his career despite playing for a long time’

Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is facing criticism from all corners after his controversial statement regarding the return of opener Sharjeel Khan, despite the latter having served his ban for involvement in PSL spot-fixing scandal during 2017.

While speaking in a YouTube Video, former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed lashed out at Hafeez and criticized him for giving such a statement.

“My question to Hafeez is that what does he think of himself? Are you PCB? Is everything in your hands? It is not his job to comment on who should be selected. He needs to improve his own performance first and prove that he is a top-class cricketer. You have played cricket for such a long time but achieved nothing so far in your career,” said Tanvir.

“What I fail to understand is that why do our senior players, who have never been able to become superstars, give such statements. Maybe they think that they have achieved a lot by just playing for 10-12 years and can say anything they want,” he added.

He also backed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan for taking immediate action over Hafeez’s statement.

“Wasim Khan did the right thing by telling Hafeez to mind his own business. If he does not like this [playing alongside tainted cricketers], then he can leave cricket. Also I believe Hafeez no longer deserves a place in the side bearing in mind his performance in PSL.”

“If [Mohammad] Amir, Salman Butt can play cricket, then so can Sharjeel,” he concluded.

It must be noted that, earlier, Hafeez had questioned the policy of overlooking a player’s tainted past just because of his skillset.

“Shouldn’t we set standards of dignity and pride higher than any other “Extra Talent” to represent Pakistan. Just Asking,” said Hafeez on his official Twitter account.
