Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif has urged the Pakistan team management to included rookie batsman Haider Ali in the playing XI for the remaining England Tests.
Pakistan are one-nil down in the three-match series after losing the first Test by three wickets in Manchester.
Rashid believes that the time is right for Haider’s inclusion in the Pakistan lineup.
“Haider Ali is missing from this team. His time to play is now and if he doesn’t play, you will waste one year of his career,” said Latif on his YouTube channel ‘Caught Behind’.
“We are waiting for Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq to retire before including Haider Ali but by then it will be too late,” he added.

He was also believes that Haider can cement his place in all three formats of the game as compared to limited-overs cricket only.
“Now that we have seen his performance in PSL, we will only look to play him in white-ball formats. I think he will play in T20Is against England but I believe it will be better to establish him as a Test player first. I firmly believe that Haider will become an excellent Test player and will eventually go on to cement his place in all formats,” he said.
The second Test between Pakistan and England will begin in Southampton from Thursday, August 13.
