There is a suggestion to hold the remaining matches of the HBL Pakistan Super League season six in January, 2022, according to sources.
Earlier, the PSL 6 was postponed after multiple Covid-19 cases, among players and support staff, on March 4. Few weeks later, it was decided that the remaining matches will take place in Karachi from June 1.
However, due to worsening Covid-19 situation in the country, the franchises requested the PCB to move the matches to UAE. The Abu Dhabi government gave clearance for the event but with one of the conditions being that everyone involved in the league should have been vaccinated against Covid-19, which put PCB on the backfoot once again.
The decision about postponement of the league is likely to be made later today.

In yesterday’s meeting between PCB and PSL franchises, the idea of holding matches in January, next year, was also floated but this would mean that the seventh edition, which will start in February, will be delayed.
There was also a suggestion to hold matches in Karachi next month, due to better Covid0-19 situation, but now the hot weather stands in the way of the event. One team owner also pointed out the heat wave which hit Karachi, couple of days back, and insisted that this is not a viable option at the moment.
PCB has also made it clear that there are no other windows available, this year, due to Pakistan team’s international commitments.
The franchise owners are also disappointed with the lack of leadership, within PCB, at this critical hour. They believe that if Chairman Ehsan Mani or Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan had gone to UAE for discussions with the local government, instead of sending a seven-member team which lacked the authority to take final decisions, things would have panned out in a better manner.
