The final announcement regarding the ICC Champions Trophy is expected today, with the tournament schedule nearing completion. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has emphasized its intent to sign the agreement after reviewing the necessary documentation.
According to sources, Pakistan and India have resolved all key issues, and the terms and agreements surrounding the Champions Trophy are now in their final stages.
While the groundwork for the major tournament is being finalized, ICC Chairman Jay Shah was seen in Brisbane on Sunday, attending the second day of the Test match between India and Australia, thousands of miles away from the discussions.
Indian media continues to release new narratives on the matter, with recent reports suggesting that all of Pakistan’s conditions have been accepted, except for one. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is adamant that the final of the 2026 T20 World Cup must be held in India, even if Pakistan qualifies for the final.
On the other hand, Pakistan has maintained its stance against playing in India under any circumstances. The ICC and its members are actively working to resolve this last sticking point. Once all obstacles are cleared, the Champions Trophy schedule will be officially announced.
It has been agreed that Pakistan and India will not host matches in each other’s countries until 2027.
The ICC has also approved a hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy following agreements between the PCB and BCCI. As per the arrangement, the tournament will take place across Pakistan and Dubai, ensuring a neutral venue for specific matches.
