Pakistan's bowlers dominated as Sri Lanka struggled to chase a modest target of 117, falling short by 31 runs in the second match of the Women's T20 World Cup on Thursday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Sri Lanka could only manage 85 runs for the loss of nine wickets, with only Nilakshika Silva (22 off 25) and Vishmi Gunaratne (20 off 34) offering some resistance. The rest of the batting lineup struggled against Pakistan’s sharp bowling attack.

Sadia Iqbal led the charge with three wickets, while Omaima Sohail, Nashra Sandhu, and Fatima Sana picked up two wickets each, helping Pakistan secure a convincing victory.

Earlier, Pakistan's batting struggled after they chose to bat first. The Green Shirts were bowled out for just 116 runs. Pakistan had a tough start as Sugandika Kumari dismissed openers Muneeba Ali and Gull Feroza inside the first four overs, leaving the team at 17/2.

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu added to Pakistan’s woes by removing Sidra Amin in the sixth over. Amin managed 12 off 10 balls with one boundary before falling.

Nida Dar and Omaima Sohail then built a 25-run partnership to steady the innings. Omaima was dismissed for 18 off 19 by Kavisha Dilhari in the 10th over. Nida Dar continued fighting, scoring 23 off 22 balls, including a six, before being bowled by Udeshika Prabodhani.

Wickets kept falling as Tuba Hassan and Aliya Riaz were both dismissed by Athapaththu on consecutive deliveries, pushing Pakistan to 84/8. Diana Baig was caught soon after, adding only two runs.

However, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana provided a crucial late surge, top-scoring with 30 off 20 balls, including three fours and a six. Along with Nashra Sandhu, who remained unbeaten on six, Fatima helped push Pakistan to 116 before getting out in the final over.

For Sri Lanka, Athapaththu, Kumari, and Prabodhani all claimed three wickets, while Dilhari took one.

Pakistan’s strong bowling performance ensured a 31-run win, showcasing their dominance in the bowling department.
