Ihsanullah reverses retirement from PSL

Pakistan’s right-arm pacer Ihsanullah has reversed his decision to retire from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) just hours after announcing his intention to boycott the league.

Ihsanullah, who was one of the most notable players to go unpicked during the PSL 10 player draft, had initially expressed his disappointment at being overlooked and vowed not to participate in the tournament again. However, the 22-year-old pacer clarified that his decision was made in the heat of the moment and that he had no plans to retire.

"It’s just that you know, the franchises did not pick me, and I was upset with the masses and my family. That’s why I made the decision emotionally," said Ihsanullah. "I wouldn’t make that decision again. I will work hard, and there are four months until the PSL. By the will of Almighty Allah, those who did not select me will pick me later on. So, I have no plan to retire. My statement was influenced by emotions," he added.

Ihsanullah, who gained attention in PSL 8 for his impressive pace, taking 22 wickets at an average of 15.77 and an economy rate of 7.59, also addressed concerns regarding his bowling speed. He shared that he is consistently bowling at an average of 135 km/h.

“I’m bowling at 130-135 daily, as per the speed gun, which is equivalent to the 140 km/h you see on TV. A day ago, I bowled with more force during a match in Peshawar and clocked in at 142 km/h. So, I will improve gradually. There’s a lot of time before the PSL, and domestic tournaments are coming up as well. By the will of Almighty Allah, I will definitely make a comeback and make my fans happy,” he explained.

The young pacer acknowledged that his initial retirement decision was a mistake and apologized to the franchises.

"The decision I made last night was wrong, and I would like to apologize to the franchises. I should not have taken a decision in anger," he concluded.

Ihsanullah ended by expressing his gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for providing him with opportunities to showcase his talent at the domestic level.
