All-rounder Imad Wasim has been provided extra time by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to clear the fitness test, ahead of Pakistan squad selection for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World cup 2019.
Wasim has been struggling with a knee injury which has hampered him to achieve the required standard for fitness test. Thus PCB has allowed him time to recover, after which he would undergo the fitness test.
Speculations were doing rounds regarding Wasim’s fitness concerns since a video was released on social media that showed the all-rounder feeling discomfort while jogging up and down the steps of a Gaddafi stadium, Lahore, stand.
However, the Pakistan team management and the PCB medical team are confident that the all-rounder will be fit in time for the ICC World cup 2019.
The 30-year-old is going through rehabilitation work at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), since returning from the One-day International (ODI) series with Australia in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Wasim is still expected to make the 15-member squad for the World Cup, as the coaching staff is happy with the progress he has made so far in his recovery from injury.
The Pakistan squad for the ICC World Cup 2019 will be announced on April 18, Thursday.
