Imad Wasim questions Pakistan batters’ intent following second T20I loss

Pakistan lost the second T20I to England in Birmingham by 23 runs, getting bowled out for 160 while chasing a target of 184.

While talking in the post-match press conference, Imad said Pakistan's batters need to dominate the middle overs, not necessarily by playing aggressively but by preventing bowlers from settling.

“I agree that the intent which we need is still missing, especially in the middle overs where we need to dominate, and dominating over the opponent doesn’t mean you start playing aggressively – you just need to disallow the bowler from settling with the line,” Imad said.

Imad, who batted at No. 8, and Iftikhar Ahmed added 40 quick runs before losing their wickets at crucial moments. Imad mentioned that staying longer at the crease could have changed the game's outcome.

“At a point, Iftikhar and I were at the crease and we were looking to cross the line but we lost our wickets at crucial stages, if we had stayed, we would have crossed the line,” he said.

He expressed his readiness to bowl at any time of the match as required by the team, whether with the new ball or in the death overs.

“I am ready to bowl at any position, be it with the new ball or the death overs, whenever the captain feels that I should come to bowl, I will and I will try to give my best for the team,” he said.

“It will be decided according to the conditions,” he added.

Replying to a question regarding the combination, Imad said that with the World Cup inching closer, they are close to finalising it.

Regarding the team's combination for the upcoming World Cup, Imad noted they are close to finalizing it and stressed the importance of learning from mistakes to perform better in the future.

“It is not just about saying, we must show that we can do better,” he concluded.
