Imad Wasim, Usama Mir's heroics not enough for their teams in T20 Blast QFs

Nottinghamshire all-rounder, Imad Wasim, showcased an exceptional all-round performance in the third quarter-final match against Somerset on Friday in the Vitality Blast 2023.

Despite his efforts, Nottinghamshire fell short and was eliminated from the aforementioned tournament.

Imad's unbeaten 31* off 15 balls, which included two fours and one six, helped his team reach a competitive total of 157/6, when his side was struggling at 108/6 in the 16th over.

The 34-year-old also bowled a double-wicket maiden over, and claimed back-to-back wickets of the opponent team's top batters, and conceded 33 runs in his four overs.

However, Somerset managed to chase down the target after losing five wickets with only three deliveries remaining.

In a surprising upset, Worcestershire faced a defeat against Hampshire in the fourth quarter-final match of the ongoing 2023 Blast tournament.

Worcestershire's batting struggled from the start as they were bowled out for a mere 100 runs in the first innings, inside the 17th over.

The team found itself in dire straits at 29/6 when Usama Mir took charge and scored 39 runs from 34 deliveries, which included four boundaries and a six.

Hampshire comfortably reached the required target after losing five wickets with 4.3 overs to spare in the final innings.

The 27-year-old showcased his brilliance with the ball and claimed two wickets while conceding only 20 runs in his four-over spell.

Hence, Worcestershire's low target proved no match for Hampshire, leading to the team's exit from the tournament.
