The Pakistan chief selector has revealed a potential path for the retired fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, to make a comeback into the Pakistan cricket team.
The announcement came as Pakistan unveiled their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023.
During a press conference held in Lahore, Inzamam-ul-Haq, while addressing the media, clarified that Amir was not included in the squad because he had retired from international cricket.
“Amir has been a great cricketer. He has taken retirement. If he wants to play for Pakistan, he will have to play first-class cricket and perform there. If he performs then he will definitely be considered. Selection door is not closed for any player,” Inzamam said.
“The same is the case for Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shan Masood and Imad Wasim,” he added.
It is worth noting that Amir retired from international cricket in 2020 and is active in franchise cricket. Nonetheless, he has been in the news these days owing to the speculation to make it to the Pakistan squad for the World Cup 2023 as a replacement for Naseem Shah.
