Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan didn't hold back in poking fun at Pakistan after their defeat against India in the ongoing 2023 Asia Cup.
The 38-year-old often takes digs at Pakistan, which are rather not good in taste, and he continued his tradition on Monday as well after India's resounding victory by a margin of 228 runs.
Taking to 'X' (formerly known as Twitter), Pathan suggested that the silence from across the border was deafening, implying that Pakistan's neighbors might have smashed their TVs and even their phones in frustration due to poor performance by team Pakistan.
"Khamoshi chaai hui hai kaafi. Lagta hai padosiyo ne TV ke sath sath mobile bhi tod diye hai," Pathan said on 'X'
However, this post didn't sit well with Pakistani cricket fans, who responded with their own tweets in defense of their team.
On the reserve day of the Super Four match between India and Pakistan, India posted 356 runs on the board. Virat Kohli, in particular, started his innings cautiously but later accelerated brilliantly, accumulating 122 runs from 94 deliveries.
On the other hand, KL Rahul, making his much-anticipated return, demonstrated his readiness for the upcoming ODI World Cup by smashing 111 runs off 106 deliveries.
During Pakistan's chase, they lost early wickets. India's Jasprit Bumrah claimed the scalp of Imam-ul-Haq, while Hardik Pandya dismissed Babar Azam. Later on, Shardul Thakur sent Mohammad Rizwan back to the pavilion, putting immense pressure on the Men in Green right from the outset.
Kuldeep Yadav also played his part, wreaking havoc in the middle order with a five-wicket haul. India and Pakistan both will square off against Sri Lanka on their allocated days to advance to the finals.
