Afridi, Smith, De Villiers steal limelight in PSL 2018 draft

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft was held in Islamabad today ahead of the fourth edition in 2019. All franchises were keen on making the most of this opportunity by assembling the best possible squads.

Former South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman AB de Villiers joined Lahore Qalandars with the first pick of the day, while Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez will also be part of the same squad in the 2019 edition of the league. 

The Sixth Team stole the limelight by picking up former Australia captain Steve Smith and former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi during the draft. 

Quetta Gladiators' top pick of the day was West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo while Karachi Kings have brought back fast-bowler Sohail Khan in the side after the pacer's soliatry season with Lahore Qalandars. 

Peshwar Zalmi roped in former Pakistan captain Misbahul Haq while also aquring the services of fierce West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard. 

Defending champions Islamabad United beefed up their squad with the inclusion of former England middle-order batsman Ian Bell.
