Former West Indies cricketer Gus Logie is hopeful that the national men’s team will tour Pakistan in the near future.
While speaking to reporters in Karachi — during the second T20I between Pakistan Women and West Indies Women team — Logi said that
“I’m sure we will tour Pakistan again with our men’s team,” said Logi. “Pakistan has great passion for the game.”
While sharing his thoughts on cricketer-turned-politician and now Prime Minister Imran Khan, the 58-year-old heaped praise on Khan’s leadership skills.
“As a leader he was on the cricket field, if he is able to lead them in the same way it will be great for Pakistan,” he said. “I think he has done tremendously as a leader and I wish him all the best as prime minister.”
He also shared his most cherished memory about Pakistan’s only World Cup winning captain.
“One of the greatest memories we have of him [Imran Khan] is that when he lifted the World Cup in Australia,” he said. “Not many people had given chance to them in that World Cup because there were power houses in shape of Australia, us and others for him lifting that trophy was tremendous. He instilled confidence in young players like Wasim Akram and some of the others.”
Logi also highlighted the toe-crushing Yorkers of former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis — which he and his team faced during their tour of Pakistan back in the day.
“I have a good memory in Karachi, when I faced Waqar Younis for the first time. The pace of the young man he jolted all of us,” he said. “The yorkers he bowled with such high pace was amazing.”
