Inspired by the legendary Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga, Zaman Khan is aiming to give his best for Pakistan, whenever he gets the opportunity.
Zaman was drawn to the unorthodox bowling style of Malinga, who had a unique action and the ability to bowl devastating yorkers at will. Inspired by Malinga's success, Zaman started working on his own bowling action and focused on developing a similar ability to bowl accurate yorkers.
“I’ve followed and watched Sri Lankan legend Lastith Malinga, because my action is similar to his, and I have learned a lot by observing him,” Zaman said to media at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
“My aim is to perform well for Pakistan for as long as I play and make the country proud. Whenever I get the opportunity, I will try to give my 100 per cent and win the match for Pakistan,” he added.
The 21-year-old has been playing alongside Shaheen Afridi for the Lahore Qalandars franchise in the Pakistan Super League since last year, and has been receiving guidance and mentorship from the left-arm pacer.
Zaman expressed his gratitude towards Shaheen, saying, "Since last year, I have been with Shaheen Afridi at Lahore Qalandars, who has been guiding me on everything and since I came under his wings, I have learned a lot."
