Pakistan’s head coach-cum-chief selector, Misbahul Haq, and batting coach, Younis Khan, are not concerned with middle-order batsman Fawad Alam’s batting stance, despite criticism from former cricketers.
Alam was dismissed for a four-ball duck, during the first innings of the second Test against England in Southampton, who was making a comeback in the playing XI after more than a decade.
Alam’s stance is similar to former West Indies batsman, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, with the latter also advising the former to stick to this style of batting if it works for him.

Misbah and Younis were not surprised to see Alam bat in this manner as they have already witnessed this in domestic cricket. Hence, they decided against taking up this matter with the left-hander.
“Fawad has scored many runs while playing like this in domestic cricket and he believes that any change will have a negative impact on his career,” a source said.
It must be noted that Alam has more than 12,000 first-class runs at an average of 56.78.
