Mitchell Santner has been appointed as the new captain of New Zealand's white-ball cricket team. New Zealand Cricket announced that Santner will officially take over as the permanent captain, replacing Kane Williamson, who stepped down after the T20 World Cup.
Santner has represented New Zealand in 243 international matches and has captained the team in 24 T20s and 4 ODIs.
The all-rounder will begin his full-time responsibilities as captain against Sri Lanka, where the team will play both ODI and T20I series. New Zealand is scheduled to face Sri Lanka in late December for the series and will also participate in a tri-nation series in Pakistan in February.
Following the tri-series, New Zealand will take part in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, and at the end of the season, they will host Pakistan for ODI and T20I series.
