Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Rizwan has urged everyone to offer a prayer of gratitude following their recent ODI series win against Australia, adding that the team aims to end the long-standing talk of not winning in Australia for 22 to 23 years.
In a speech to his players in the dressing room, Rizwan encouraged the team to celebrate the series win but cautioned them to stay grounded and avoid any behavior that might cast a shadow on Pakistan's success.
Rizwan remarked, "Let’s rejoice, but keep in mind that we must protect our star from any negative impact."
The wicketkeeper-batsman noted that few expected Pakistan to defeat Australia on their home soil, calling this achievement a beginning for future growth and learning.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s unity on the field had allowed them to overcome external challenges and foster internal strength, adding, "I’m certain that other teams have taken notice and learned from our example."
Continuing his message, Rizwan stated that the team should set ambitious goals, with hopes of sweeping Australia in the upcoming T20 series. He expressed aspirations to claim major titles such as the Champions Trophy, World Cup, and even the Olympics, declaring that Pakistan would make history on every international stage and write new chapters in cricket’s record books.
Rizwan closed his address by reaffirming the importance of teamwork and collaboration, highlighting his practice of seeking feedback from both management and players.
Pakistan recently defeated Australia 2-1 in the ODI series. The three-match T20 series between the teams is set to start on November 14 in Brisbane.
